Over the last century, the Principality of Monaco has continued to expand its territory through multiple extensions into the sea. The new Eco-district MARETERRA, which will be delivered at the end of 2024, is built according to strict specifications, at the initiative of SAS Prince Albert II of Monaco, in order to preserve and protect marine ecosystems.
The project has been a substantial technical challenge and embodies the principals of sustainable development, creating 6 hectares of land on the sea whilst protecting the marine environment. Monaco has now a new shore and will benefit from a new eco-district in 2024.
The MARETERRA project was designed to present a wide variety of environments. It is made up of different and distinct neighbourhoods, squares, remarkable parks and gardens, strengthening Monaco’s identity while creating a natural extension of the Principality of Monaco.
In the Port district, restaurants, bars and shops are located on the edge of the docks and provide an intimate aspect with water surrounding on three sides, offering the atmosphere and the scale of a small port of Mediterranean animation.
Mareterra presents a series of residential spaces, each with unique character, set within a collection of buildings that rise in scale from east to west. These begin with the striking shoreline and hillside villas, and end with the elegant form of Le Renzo.
Conceived by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Le Renzo takes the form of a fragmented vessel, inspired by the elements around it, playing with light, air, and water to create a building that celebrates Monaco’s place at the heart of Mediterranean life. Le Renzo forms the westernmost edge of the district, a series of residences that rise above a small, bustling port and retail plaza. Here, at the start of the promenade, residents and locals will be able to form an essential connection with the Mediterranean.
Le Renzo building, overlooking the marina, offers 47 apartments spread over two blocks of 14 and 17 storeys. The apartment type include 33 lateral apartments from 3 to 5 rooms, 11 duplexes from 5 to 9 rooms (3 with private pools), 2 triplexes from 7 to 10 rooms (1 with private pool) and 1 quadruplex with 12 rooms.
Every apartment in Le Renzo spans its entire width, providing dual aspect views over Monaco and the Mediterranean from full length, deep balconies. Designed to embrace its environment, each apartment offers light and space in abundance. The apartments located at bothends of the building have a triplex exposure.
